Tajik-German Institute for the Conservation of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services/Overview

The “Tajik-German Institute for the Protection of Biodiversity and Ecosystems” (TaGEB) strives to contribute to research, practice, and society through the development of innovative projects that can contribute to reducing ecosystem and biodiversity loss in the Republic of Tadjikistan and Central Asian region. The necessary international transfer of knowledge is substantiated by a cooperative relationship between Tadjikistan and Germany. In this context, measures for regional value creation to protect ecosystems and biodiversity, qualification measures for students and young scientists as well as communication concepts for society, politics, business and administration are developed.

TaGEB will be founded at Tajik National University (TUN), Rudaki Avenue 17, 734025 Duschanbe. Tajik and German experts will work together in the cooperation network to develop the future structure of the institute and the institute's goals. The institute is open to the further development of international and interdisciplinary cooperation and partnerships.

The starting point of the joint institute work is based on the international conference in May 2025 for science and practical solutions on ‘Protection of biodiversity and ecosystems in the Republic of Tadjikistan´ which was funded by the German Federal Ministry of education and research.
